HIVE Blockchain deploys bitcoin mining machines powered by Intel's Blockscale chips

HIVE Blockchain Technologies ( NASDAQ: HIVE ) is deploying its bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) mining machines powered by Intel's ( NASDAQ: INTC ) Blockscale chips, it said Friday. Dubbed HIVE BuzzMiner, the machines are each expected to generate 110 to 130 terrahashes per second of computing power, said Aydin Kilic, HIVE's president and chief operating officer. Together, the machines can produce between 638 petahashes per second and 754 PH/s. More than 1,500 machines have already been installed across the miner's data centers in Canada, where HIVE is based, and Sweden. It initially ordered 13K of the Intel-powered machines in 2022, though the order was reduced "to methodically scale the business during the crypto bear market." HIVE dipped 2.8% in afternoon trading, but still up by over 100% year-to-date in the wake of bitcoin's ( BTC-USD ) "comeback" since the start of 2023. On Monday, HIVE said it generated 213.8 bitcoins ( BTC-USD ) for December.
